Ubisoft are finally tackling the sight misalignment issue that has plagued Rainbow Six Siege since launch and affected pretty much every fully automatic gun in the game. The fix is still in the testing phase and was recently released onto the R6 test servers for evaluation. I went ahead and compared the before and after performance of every gun in terms of recoil patterns and sight shake and at this stage, it looks as if the overall controllability of weapons in the game is going to become easier (although there are a few examples where recoil will become harder to control). The most important question of course is, do the changes fix the sight misalignment when firing in full auto and the answer to that is: almost! There are still minimal variations but we are 99% there and the update would definitely be a huge improvement to the game. I really like the approach ubi takes. There is always some minor misalignment even in irl. It's due to the barrel recoil giving spin to the next bullet. The fact that you can't 100% rely on your headshot skill makes the game much more exhilarating in my opinion. Before it was actually annoying, but the test servers look really good.

In the slope mo it looks like the bullet is fired where the gun recoils to rather than where the gun is pointing. Or is that just me?

I played Capitao once or twice when he was introduced and don't think I've ever touched him again. I don't see him played a lot on casual or ranked either. Is he that bad?

I can't play this game until they fix the misalignment, ubisoft's attempt at a tactical shooter is fucking hilarious. Look up ready or not for an actual tactical FPS with realistic aspects.

Answering your bit about skill ceiling, skill is knowing which way the gun is going to bounce and how to compensate for that, not getting lucky on which spot “kinda close to the center of your reticule” the bullet is gonna go

I think the changes will help people who like to shoot at medium distance. I don't think it will affect close range fighting very much.

Personally I feel as though the random elements of the recoil should be present as a "Skill-based competitive" shooter. It shouldn't be possible to control the recoil perfectly, the player should have to learn to tap or burst fire in order to be accurate at longer ranges. There's a reason that even the most elite soldiers today will use semi-automatic fire most of the time, even often in close-quarters. Fully predictable recoil like this is just too easy.

There is supposed to be sight misalignment. in real your eyes are not glued onto the reticle in the sight. and of course your gun will have innacuracy, why are people crying about it?

Fixing the sight misalignment is a good thing. But is it just me or did they "just" tight the variation vector over the pattern vector? Specially the horizontal recoil seems to be reduced a lot (^^ besides Capitao) And what about visual delay? If the CPU calculates frames quicker than your GPU can render there will always be a slight derivation. This derivation would always be in the way you crosshairs came from. Like below the tipp of the ACOG triangle.

Am I the only one that thinks that with the sight realignment buff, almost all of the weapons look EXACTLY like both Black Beard’s weapons with his rifle shield mounted. Also, quick note. With Black Beards Rifle Shield attached, wouldn’t or shouldn’t it decrease the weapons recoil seeing as how it brings Black Beard from a 2-1 speed when he attaches it. But, it increases recoil and bullet spread for both weapons.
It bugs me so much that ela still has a 20 round mag extender but only fills it halfway

I'd very much prefer it with minimal deviations. As you said even real life guns have this type of behaviour. If every shot landed perfectly it wouldn't be that much of a fun in my opinion. And this is coming from a person who played CS:GO for 1K hours and I currently have 1.4K on Siege. If you've played CS:GO you'd know how it feels to be pre-fired by an AK47 around the corner which lands every shot with PERFECT alignment.

4:24 Correction: Gun shots in real life don't deviate from the point of aim, at least not at close range, in a realistic scenario where an SMG would be effective, you wouldn't have any deviance from where your point of aim is when firing in full auto, it's only at much, much longer ranges where any gun will become inaccurate, this range is different on every gun, depending on variables such as caliber and barrel length(things that affect the speed of a bullet, longer barreled guns with faster moving bullets will go much further before windage and bullet drop become meaningful factors)

A hot topic should be: how these so called specialists cannot control recoil. I look at this stuff and am just amazed. I don't think I've ever seen a video game with such ridiculous recoil. What's more weird is that I have never ever ever ever noticed this recoil while playing. Never. Either I'm good at recoil compensation, or there's not really this much of an impact unless you're doing absolutely nothing to combat it. Not even pressing the fire button in the downward position. I mean it's quite crazy. So, really, does this truly matter? Is the recoil that bad? Is it impossible to compensate? Truly, this game has a lot more important things that it could fix or adjust than a recoil rework. Like for instance: one shot headshots. Half the characters in this game are wearing helmets resistant to most small arms and fragmentation shrapnel. Some, like Tachanka look like they could withstand a nuclear meltdown. This game is not realistic, and neither is a one shot headshot mechanic. So many operators in this game are flat out fiction. And truly bullet damage, though it is best calculated with strict numbers (especially with several armor/health types in this game), I argue that with random recoil or even upwards recoil in general; it is not skill based to get a headshot. In fact when watching most killcams where I die instantly, you can automatically tell they didn't get it through skill. Other problems: team killing, especially in casual. I understand that raises skill and realism.... But as I have already said this game is not focused on realism. I'm looking at you Outbreak. But also, it could be easily concluded that with what little skill team killing adds to the game, there's a whole lot more toxicity in proportion. "We'll add a team killing forgive system..." Like a band-aid on a bullet wound. Remove the team killing, and problem solved. Another nearly as toxic problem with this game: vote to kick. This mechanic is not necessary. It's only necessary if you have team killing. Which shouldn't be in the game. It's not necessary to vote out a noob just because he lost you a round.... In ranked or casual. What do you honestly win in this game for high skill score? Uhh nothing. So, it puts new players off. It made me quite mad the first dozen or so player levels I played. And no, I wasn't a noob. I completed the entirety of Situations getting all stars before I touched multiplayer because it suggested it.... And it was an entirely different experience. I still get in games today where I'm kicked because I picked "the wrong character". Well until you pay the $60+ for me to play the game, you will not decide how I play it in any way shape or form. Period. I'll take the most off Meta character if I please, and use his gadget in the most asinine way if I like. It's a damn video game. So, that in a nutshell is why I don't play Siege even though I love the potential and dynamic of the game. I quite enjoy playing with friends every once in a while, but it's nothing I'd ever recommend that any of my friends purchase.

I also don't mind reduced RNG in tts recoil. In Siege you can always outskill your opponent by precise headshot. The only problem are potato servers that can screw your tapping in this condition.

sight misalignment isnt increasing realism in R6S, kills above 15 meters are fairly rare (spawnkills excluded) so unless Rainbow uses elmers and velcrow to mount their scopes, this shouldn't be happening.

The problem occurs because the sight movement and bullet impacts have been synchronised to an FOV of 50°. When players change their FOV, it will cause misalignment on some shots

Why does everyone keep complaining about easier recoil 'lowering the skill ceiling'? Your skill ceiling is still up there. The skill floor has just been raised instead. This is arguably more important for the longevity of the game, as it makes it easier for newer people to start playing the game (and keep playing the game). Without this encouragement for newer players, the game will slowly but surely die out, as older players will eventually get bored and give up, and newer players would be discouraged from playing.

I'm really excited for these upcoming changes. Hope they avoid buffing/nerfing certain guns, so we don't have to adapt too much. When do you think the change will go live? Maybe when the new season starts, or do you think they'd rather not introduce new operators AND a new recoil system at the same time?

One thing that is really obvious with the side by sides, especially with the scorpion/smg 12, is that it looks like the weapon model is locked into the centre of the screen, with only back/forth movement for the visual recoil, which looks kind of weird imo. Maybe this was the entire reason behind the original sight misalignment, in that the reticle actually moves off the centre of the screen, and now its locked in place, which would make it a lot simpler to keep the bullets going right where it is. I think this is kind of lame though.
